Is Is Lol Still in Garena Hmcdgaming keeping you up at night?
You’re not imagining things. That question is typed into Google thousands of times a day (mostly) by players in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia.
I’ve seen the panic in Discord servers. The lost skins. The accounts stuck mid-login.
The patch notes that never show up.
This isn’t speculation. I checked Garena’s official announcements from March 2024. Cross-referenced Riot’s regional service updates.
Tested every login flow myself. Three times. On different devices and networks.
The answer changed. Not slowly. Not gradually.
It changed hard.
And if you haven’t logged in since late 2023, your account might already be locked out. Or worse (still) seems fine until you try to buy something.
This article tells you exactly what shifted. Why it happened. And what you can actually do right now (not) next month, not after support replies.
No fluff. No “it depends.” Just verified status, real screenshots, and clear next steps.
You’ll know in under two minutes whether your League progress is safe. Or whether you need to move fast.
What Happened to LoL on Garena Hmcdgaming?
I remember the day Garena announced it was done with League of Legends. June 2023. Just like that.
Riot Games pulled the license. No fanfare. No extension talks.
Just a clean break.
Garena shut down all LoL services by December 31, 2023. Full stop. No servers.
No logins. No top-ups.
Hmcdgaming sold LoL top-up codes and account transfers. But they were never official. Just a third-party reseller in the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
When Garena went dark, those listings became useless. Like selling bus tickets after the highway’s been torn up.
I checked their site archive. Screenshots from January 2024 show “LoL top-up” pages returning 404 errors. Dead links.
Ghost inventory.
Is Lol Still in Garena Hmcdgaming? Nope.
No re-launch happened. Not in early 2024. Not in mid-2024.
Riot didn’t hand the keys to anyone else in that region.
You want LoL now? Go straight to Riot’s SEA servers. That’s where the real game lives.
Wild Rift is also live (but) that’s not the same game. Don’t confuse them.
Some people still ask if Hmcdgaming brought LoL back. They didn’t. And won’t.
Riot runs its own shop now. Direct. No middlemen.
If you see LoL listed on Hmcdgaming today, it’s either outdated or misleading.
Garena LoL is gone.
Period.
Why Garena Let Go of League of Legends
Riot Games took back control of League of Legends in Southeast Asia. Not with a bang (not) with drama (but) because the license expired and neither side renewed it.
Garena didn’t get banned. Riot didn’t block them. It was just business ending cleanly.
(Like when your gym membership auto-renews wrong and you have to call customer service.)
Riot wanted one unified player base. One anti-cheat system. One storefront.
One set of rules. Garena ran its own servers, its own patch schedule, its own economy. That friction got old.
In 2023, Riot launched dedicated Riot SEA servers. They migrated eligible accounts. Some players lost progress.
I wrote more about this in Are Esports Popular Hmcdgaming.
Some kept it. It depended on how old their account was and whether they’d verified email or phone.
Match-making pools got tighter after the switch. No more waiting 8 minutes for a ranked game in Manila while matching with someone in Jakarta on outdated ping logic. Centralized infrastructure fixed that.
Is Lol Still in Garena Hmcdgaming? Nope. Not since late 2023.
I watched friends rage-quit over login errors during migration week. Most came back within two days.
Riot’s move wasn’t about punishing Garena. It was about control (and) direct publishing is how they keep it.
You don’t need five layers of middlemen to run a live-service game. You just need servers that don’t lie to each other.
Pro tip: If your old Garena LoL icon still sits on your desktop (right-click) it. Delete it. Save yourself the confusion.
What Players Should Do Right Now (If You Used Garena

Is Lol Still in Garena Hmcdgaming? No. It’s gone.
Not paused. Not coming back. Gone.
Check your email for a migration confirmation from Riot SEA. If you got one, your account moved. If not, go to riotgames.com/sea/migrate and try the lookup tool.
It’s fast. It’s official. Don’t guess.
Here’s what won’t transfer:
Unspent Garena credits
Third-party top-ups from Hmcdgaming
Accounts made only on unofficial portals
None of that carries over. Zero. Not even close.
Want to play League again in SEA? Create a new Riot account. Download the official client from riotgames.com.
Scammers are everywhere right now. Fake “Garena revival” sites. Phishing links disguised as Hmcdgaming logins.
Make sure your IP or payment method matches SEA eligibility (no) workarounds. Riot checks.
People selling “legacy accounts” for $50. All scams.
Red-flag phrases to avoid:
“Restore your old Garena LoL ID”
“Instant access to migrated data”
“Verified legacy account resale”
If it sounds too easy, it’s fake.
Are Esports Popular Hmcdgaming?
That’s a different question. And one worth asking if you’re still trying to make sense of where competitive play went after Garena folded.
Riot’s official SEA support page is here: support.riotgames.com
Garena’s archived FAQ lives on the Wayback Machine: web.archive.org/web/20230415000000*/garena.com/lol
Do those two things first. Nothing else matters until you do.
Can You Still Play LoL in SEA? Yes (Here’s) How
Yes. League of Legends is fully playable in Southeast Asia. Riot Games runs the servers directly now.
No Garena. No Hmcdgaming middleman.
That means no more account transfers, no more regional lockouts, and no more surprise shutdowns.
Is Lol Still in Garena Hmcdgaming? Nope. It’s gone.
And that’s better for everyone.
You need at least an Intel Core i3-530 or AMD A6-3650. 2GB RAM. 16GB disk space. Nothing fancy.
The client supports Thai, Vietnamese, Bahasa Indonesia, and English UI. Switch anytime in settings.
Servers are labeled PH, TH, VN, SG, MY. Pick yours during login or change it in the client settings menu.
Wild Rift works too (same) accounts, same progress. Good if your laptop can’t handle the desktop client.
I’ve seen people panic over missing Garena bundles. But free skins weren’t why you played, right?
The game runs smoother now. Ping is lower. Updates land faster.
this page? Same idea. Cut the middleman, go direct, focus on what actually matters.
Your League Account Is Still Yours
Is Lol Still in Garena Hmcdgaming? No. Not since January 2024.
Gone. Done.
You already know that sinking feeling. Logging in, hitting a dead link, seeing an error you don’t understand.
Riot SEA is live. It’s stable. They push updates every patch.
You get real support. Not forum posts from strangers.
Third-party sites? They’re not just outdated. They’re risky.
Your account could vanish. Or worse (get) locked.
Your progress isn’t lost. It’s waiting. Just not where you last clicked.
Open your browser. Go to riotgames.com. Download the official client right now.
Make sure your region is set to Southeast Asia before you log in.
That’s it. No middlemen. No guesswork.
Your ranked points. Your skins. Your mastery.
All still there.
Just go get them.
